Family Support Groups

Support of Parents
The overall goals of our services for parents are two- fold: firstly, to help reinforce and support what the children are learning in their treatment and secondly, to support and strengthen the parents in their role. Support for parents is available both individually as well as in a group format. There are particular stressors associated with parenting a special needs child and individual sessions may be scheduled where mothers and/or fathers can look at issues such as effective limit setting, family relationships, stress and support for oneself. Our parents support group is a combination of psychoeducational, covering particular topics each week, as well as supportive opportunity to talk and learn from each other’s experience.
