Social Skills Groups

      The Focus Center is pleased to announce the beginning of their Social Skills Groups. Groups will meet once each week for one hour with each cycle lasting for ten sessions. Group size will be limited to four children per group. Individual goals will be established for your child, based upon assessments that will include input from parents, teachers and other appropriate adults in your child’s life. Homework assignments will be given each week and parents will be expected to reinforce the weekly lessons at home.

Issues we will be covering will include:

Conversation Skills	Compromise, Cooperation, & Competition
Body Space Issues	Assertiveness not Aggressiveness
Making and Keeping Friends	Problem Solving
Facial Expressions and Body Language	Winning and Losing

       The Social Skills group is a 10 session commitment. Payment is expected in advance. Please contact Ruth Yaacoby if other arrangements are needed.
       The Groups will be run by Laura Andrucki-Izzo, MSW, LCSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Play Therapist and Certified Children’s Yoga Teacher. If you would like to know more about Laura’s background, please go on line at www.focusforchildren.com
